About
Patience, Light,
and Field Craft
I'm Ashutosh Desai — an amateur photographer based in the United Kingdom, originally from Pune, India. I've been chasing birds across the subcontinent since 2016. What started as weekend walks with binoculars has become a deep study in avian behaviour, light, and the slow art of waiting.
My work spans primarily the Western Ghats region in India, while I slowly continue discovering and photographing birds around me here in the United Kingdom. Birds are my primary subject, but the broader natural world finds its way into my lens when it insists.
I shoot with a Nikon D500 paired with a Nikkor 200-500mm lens for the birds, and a wide-angle kit for astrophotography and landscapes.
